Alfred Franklin Hartzog, 81, of Ridgeville, entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 10, 2022.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday at Ridgeville Baptist Church with Rev. David Knight and Rev. Thomas Cousins officiating.   Burial will follow in the Bonnerest Cemetery. Pallbearers will Austin Hartzog, Kim Huff, Harry Cummings, Mack Wanish, Jon McElhannon and Tom Andrews.  Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of service in the church social hall. 

Franklin was born on October 23, 1940, in Reevesville, a son of the late Quillie Frank and Anna Reeves Hartzog.  He was a retired electrician with the Charleston Naval Shipyard, a member of the Ridgeville Baptist Church and the Ridgeville Masonic Lodge. He was first married to Sophie Cummings Hartzog and was predeceased by siblings, Cecil Hartzog, McKay Hartzog and Martha Andrews.

Surviving is his wife, Judith C. Hartzog; sons, Doug (Elizabeth) Hartzog, Charlie (Brenda) Hartzog, all of Ridgeville and Bobby (Susan) Hartzog, Manning, Shaun S. (Belinda) McElhannon; daughters, Kelley A. (Tony) Wanish-Strobel and Kathlenne E. McElhannon; grandchildren, Holly Marie (Jason) Britt, Devin (Travis) Hartzog, Lucy Camlin Hartzog and Anne Wilder Hartzog, Graham Matthews Hartzog, Valerie (Cory) Porterfield, Jon (Pernilla) McElhannon, Justin McElhannon, Abby McElhannon , Mack Wanish, Jacob (Connor) McLane and Madison McLane; great-grandchildren, Emma Britt, Hannah Britt, Emma McElhannon, Quinn Porterfield and Lucas Porterfield; sisters, Edith (Horace) Ruple and brothers-in-law, Edward Andrews, Harry Cummings, Jr. and Mike Cummings; and sister-in-law, Nettie Hill.  The family would like to thank his special caretakers, Lorraine Lary and Charamine Green.
