On Friday, August 23, 2024, Beverly Lynn Waggoner Lucas, 63, of Ladson passed away.  Beverly was born on October 13, 1961, in Knoxville, TN, the first daughter of the late Kenneth Franklin Waggoner, Sr. and Lois W. Waggoner.  She moved with her family to Dorchester when she was a baby.

Beverly graduated from Mims Academy and Trident Technical College.  Being an avid reader, Beverly landed her dream position with Charleston County Library, and then Dorchester County Library, ultimately running the bookmobile bringing books into the community to many children and their parents.  Beverly brought this passion for books, along with a deep affinity for children, into the classrooms of Faith Christian School where she taught elementary reading.  Beverly was a dedicated supporter of her father’s political career, campaigning for Kenny with Dorchester County Council where he served for 35 years.  Beverly also loved socializing which helped her achieve mastery as a courier with the Dorchester County Treasurer’s Office.

Beyond her professional career, Beverly enjoyed travel and, in particular, cruising about the world with her family and friends.  She truly never met a stranger. She also enjoyed creating gifts for her loved ones on her highly prized, high-tech sewing machines.  Family and friends will always share fond memories of Christmas crafting as well as baking and canning with Bev.

Beverly leaves behind a legacy of love and unforgettable memories to be shared by her husband Charles (Chip) Lucas and son Jon Tyler Lucas, her fur babies, Maverick, Queenie Belle, Peaches and Gracie, many friends and extended family. She is also survived by brothers Jeff Waggoner (Jeannie), and Frank Waggoner, as well as her special “bonus sons” Chris and Nick Waggoner. She was predeceased not only by Kenny and Lois Waggoner, but also brother, Greg Waggoner and sister, Donna Waggoner-Mizell.

A memorial celebration of Beverly’s life will be held at St. Andrews Family Worship Center located at 9 Tovey Road, Charleston, SC 29407, on August 31, 2024, at 4 o’clock.  In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make contributions to St. Andrews Family Worship Center.
