Caroline Hutto Batten, 97, of Harleyville, widow of Harry Alexander Batten Sr., entered into eternal rest on August 8, 2023.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, August 14, 2023 in the Harleyville Cemetery with Pastor Haskell Parler officiating. The family will receive friends an hour before the service.
Caroline was born on July 21, 1926, a daughter of the late Julius Otey and Maude Collier Hutto. She was educated at Harleyville and was a typist with CD Franklin in New Orleans, LA, an inspector with the Holly Hill sewing factory, attendant with the Dorchester Convenience Site. She was the owner of Hutto’s Lake Fishpond and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Harleyville. She was predeceased by a son, Harry A. Batten, Jr. and his wife, Penny; a brother, Otey Hutto, Jr. and a sister, Fairelee Herman.
Surviving is her daughter, Veronica B. (Jack) Compton, Bland, VA; a son, Julius Batten (the late, Kathy Batten), Harleyville; grandchildren, Shannon (Spence) Bozard, Shawn (Wendi Lynn) Riley, Jamie (Jamie) Limehouse, Alex (Jamie Kay) Batten, Jay (Alicia) Batten and Travis (Amanda) Batten; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great, great grandchildren; a sister, Elaine Westbury and a sister-in-law, Ruth Bishop Limehouse.
