Cheryl Harbeson Merritt, 81, wife of Ronnie C. Merritt, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.
The family will receive friends at the home of Cheryl and Ronnie Merritt, 728 Jedburg Road, Summerville from 2:00-5:00 PM on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
Cheryl was born on March 7, 1944, in Summerville, a daughter of the late Wilbert G. Harbeson and Mary Altha Byrd Harbeson. She graduated from St. George High School in 1962 and served as a civil service secretary with the 315th Reserve Airlift Wing Command at Charleston Air Force Base for 38 years until her retirement. She was affiliated with both Grover Methodist Church and New Hope Methodist Church. She belonged to the Red Hat Ladies Society Summerville chapter and enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and a true Southern belle. She enjoyed traveling, camping and being with family. She was predeceased by a sister, Jacquelin Allison Bowers.
Surviving is her husband, Ronnie C. Merritt, Summerville; a son, Jason (April) Merritt, Summerton; grandchildren, David (JoAnna) Lindsay and Hope (Dalton) Ganiere; great-grandchildren, Rosaleigh and Jasyon Lindsay and Ellina and Elam Ganiere; and a brother, Daniel (Kathy) Harbeson; nephews, James A. Lewis, Kevin Harbeson, Ryan Harbeson and Andrew Harbeson; and many great and great, great nieces and nephews.
