Delaine Infinger Walters, 80, of St. George, widow of John O. Walters, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 24, 2026.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, May 29, 2026, at St. George Cemetery with Rev. Rawls Mitchell officiating. Pallbearers will be Anthony Infinger, Clint Smoak, John-Conner Walters, Miles Walters, Pete Barcomb, Kent Matthews and Cody Infinger.
Delaine was born on July 28, 1945, in Rosinville, SC, a daughter of the late Alonzo Victor Infinger, Sr., and Dorothy Stroble Infinger. She was a 1963 graduate of St. George High School and was a retired GIS with the Dorchester County Assessor’s office. Alongside her husband, Delaine co-founded the St. George Grits Festival, helping grow it into one of South Carolina’s best-known community celebrations.
She was a member of the St. George Bridge Club, affectionately known as “The Grits Sisters,” and this group enthusiastically promoted the Grits Festival by participating in parades throughout South Carolina. She was also active in the local Businesswomen’s Club.
A talented and well-known artist, she created paintings of beloved Lowcountry landmarks, including Indian Field Campground, Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, and the Koger House, among many others. She also helped establish Art Central in Nexton, as well as the Art Guilds and Artisans Center.
She was predeceased by a brother, Alonzo V. Infinger, Jr.
Surviving are two sons, Chris (Kim) Walters and Jamie Walters; grandchildren, Savannah (Marcus) Rieta, John-Conner Walters and Miles Walters; a brother, Anthony (Bertie) Infinger; a sister, Karen (Pete) Barcomb; and a sister-in-law, Toni Infinger.
