Doris Fairfax Griffith, 86, widow of Richard M. Griffith entered into eternal rest on July 2, 2026, in Roper Berkeley Hospital after an extended illness.


Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Harleyville with Pastor Jamie Cribb and Reverend Thomas Cousins officiating. Burial will follow in the Harleyville Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM at Bryant Funeral Home, St. George.  Pallbearers will be Kenneth Griffith, Julian Wayne Griffith, Henry Griffith, Howard Griffith, Herman Suggs and Jamie Geiger.


Doris was born on November 7, 1939, in Columbus County, North Carolina a daughter of the late Alex Fairfax, Sr. and Mamie Hilbourn Fairfax. She was a retired registered nurse who dedicated many years of service to the inmates and staff of Lieber Correctional Institution and MacDougall Correctional Institution in Ridgeville. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Harleyville. She enjoyed working in her yard, but her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved grandson. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard M. Griffith; a son, Bryan Alex Griffith; and siblings, Essie Fairfax, Eva Fairfax, Alex Fairfax, Jr., Wade Fairfax, Susan Marie Fairfax.


Surviving is a daughter, Pamela A. (Johnny Carter) Griffith, Ridgeville; grandson, Trey Austin Carter; sister, Oylanda (Herman) Suggs and brothers Bill (Jo) Fairfax and Kenneth Shelley.
