Dorothy Mae Saulisbury Obituary

Dorothy Mae Saulisbury, 95, widow of Gerald Albert Saulisbury, Sr., entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.


Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Old St. George Baptist Church with Rev. James Way and Rev. Gene Lisenby officiating.  The Pallbearers will be Daniel Mizell, Matthew Mizell, Danny Mizell, Jason Valentine, Christian DeThomas, and Josh Matthews.


Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM until the time of service.


The burial will be held 10:00 AM Monday morning at Carolina Memorial Gardens.  


Dorothy was born on August 16, 1929, in Charleston, a daughter of the late John Richard Marchant and Angie Vernelle “Nellie” Infinger Marchant. She was a graduate of Harleyville Public School and was a retired bailiff with the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office.  She was a dedicated member of Old St. George Baptist Church, actively participating as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School worker, and choir member. She also contributed to Disaster Relief efforts. Her personal interests included gardening, fishing, and cherishing time with her family. She was predeceased by a daughter, Amanda Jean Valentine; siblings, John Lewis Marchant, Edith Infinger, Barbara Jane Baker and Bernice Jacobs; and a grandson-in-law, Jamie Byers.


Surviving is her son, Gerald Albert (Ruthie) Saulisbury, Jr., Harleyville; a daughter, Kathie (James) Mizell, Ridgeville; brother, Douglas (Shirley) Marchant; sisters, Florelle M. Weeks and Elvenia M. (Frank) Fralix; grandchildren, Danny (Joanne) Mizell, Alisha Mizell, Melissa (John) Matthews, Kristen Byers, Jason (Laura) Valentine, great-grandchildren, Daniel Mizell, Joshua Matthews, Christian DeThomas, Julian Vinson, Jaydon Vinson, Matthew Mizell, Madia Medico, Tanner Byers, Sophie Valentine, Genevieve Mizell and Scarlett Mizell; and son-in-law, Ricky Valentine.
