Edward Ernest Walters, widower of Anna Barrs Walters, 79, of Reevesville, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Vibra Hospital of Charleston.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Cotton Gin Country Church, Reevesville with Rev. Kevin A. Hinton and Rev. J. Spencer Brotherson officiating. Burial will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour before the service in the church. Pallbearers will be William Barrs, James Lewis, George Reeves, Larry Rushton, Charles Smoak, Jr. and Larry Strickland.

Ernest was born on November 7, 1944, in Reevesville, a son of the late William Addison and Viola Lee Hartzog Walters. He was retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard as a rigger foreman and was the former owner of Bedspreads “N” Things in St. George. He was a member of Cotton Gin Country Church where he was a deacon and the treasurer. He dearly loved his church and church family. Ernest was a member and Past Master of Harmony Lodge #61 and the Safety Patrol Unit of the Omar Shriners.

Surviving is his son Edward Ernest Walters, Jr. and his wife, Angelique Britt Walters of Reevesville; grandchildren Tyler William Walters and his wife Lillian Taylor Walters of Reevesville; Grant Andrew Walters of Columbia and Britt Annice Walters of Reevesville; sister-in-law, Marcia Barrs Jackson of Ridgeville; brother-in-law, William Lane Barrs of Atlanta, GA; a special niece, Sarah Smoak Bird (Brandon) of Charlotte, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, W. Calhoun Walters; L. Richard Walters; David L. “Bub” Walters; sisters, Gladys W. Collins and Adell W. Collins.
