Gayle Rast Taylor, 73, of Dorchester, widow of L.B. Taylor, Jr., entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, November 17, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Harleyville with the Reverend Jamie Cribb and Pastor Trey Atkinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Limestone Baptist Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Joey Dantzler, Everett Dantzler, Kerry Hill, Trey Atkinson, Kim Huff and Bryan Shuler.  The visitation will be an hour before the service.

Gayle was born on June 24, 1950, in Orangeburg, a daughter of the late George Truett Rast and Annie Margaret Hughes Rast.  She was organist and secretary at First Baptist Church of Harleyville for over 45 years and was the former secretary of First United Methodist Church of Harleyville.  She was predeceased by a sister, Florrie Ann Rast.

Surviving are her sons, Kevin (Laney) Taylor and Stephen Taylor, all of Dorchester; grandchildren, Brody Logan (Elizabeth) Taylor, Reevesville and Landon David Taylor, Dorchester; sisters, Jeannine Benton, Branchville and Beverly (Sandy) Atkinson, Orangeburg; sisters-in-law, Marie (Charles) Dantzler, Harleyville, and Loretta Hill, Hanahan; and a special friend and caregiver, Vanessa Hall.
