Mrs. Gayle Jackson West, 85 widow of Marion Leon West entered eternal rest on Tuesday January 7, 2025, at her residence after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday January 10, 2025, in the Bowman Southern Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Bowman Memorial Cemetery. The visitation will be 1 hour before the service. The Pallbearers are William Weathers; Wally Weathers; Woody Weathers; Bert Weathers; Bard Stevenson; and Jerry Berry.

Gayle was born September 29, 1939, in Bowman, SC. Her parents were the late Wilfred Dargan Jackson and Eunice Elizabeth Berry Jackson. Her late stepmother was Haynie McGraw Jackson. She was a graduate of Bowman High School and Lander College. She was a former schoolteacher. She was a member of the Bowman Southern Methodist Church. She spent her time doing handwork as well as canning her famous vegetables and pickles. She admired her flowers but especially her snap dragons in her front yard.

Surviving are her two children;  Wilfred Jackson West of Bowman; and Starlene W. Watson (Patten) of Columbia; her three grandsons; Marion Taylor West; Richard Patten Watson IV; and Dargan Jackson Watson.
