George M. "Tex" Canady III passed away on July 2, 2025, in Dorchester, South Carolina, at the age of 81. Born on November 25, 1943, in Charleston, South Carolina, Tex lived a life marked by dedication to his work, love for the outdoors, and craftsmanship that left a lasting impression on those who knew him.

A proud graduate of The University of South Carolina, Tex earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. His education laid the foundation for a successful career as a construction manager with Fluor Corp., where he eventually retired after years of committed service. His work reflected not only his professional skill but also his strong sense of responsibility and leadership.

Outside of his career, Tex was an avid outdoorsman who found joy and peace in nature. He especially loved hunting and fishing—pastimes that connected him deeply to the land and water. His passion for craftsmanship extended beyond the outdoors; he was a master carpenter with a particular talent for building wooden boats. Each vessel he crafted was a testament to his patience, precision, and artistry.

Tex's legacy continues through his children: Chip (Schelle) and Carey. He also leaves behind a brother, Brian (Martha), and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry forward memories of time spent together and lessons learned from his example.

He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

May his memory bring comfort to those who mourn his passing and inspiration to those who remember his life well lived.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Zion Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ronnie Brewer officiating.  The family will receive friends an hour before the service in the church fellowship hall.
