Harris Varner, 82, of St. George, husband of Linda Varner, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, August 29, 2026 at St. Matthews Baptist Church with Rev. David Drumheller and Rev. Thomas Sandifer officiating.  Burial will follow in the Limestone Baptist Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Ron Wagers, Chevis Pendarvis, Mike Murdaugh, Chris Easterling, Spencer Warner and Harry Ott and honorary pallbearers Cookie Manigault and Gary Parker. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM at Bryant Funeral Home, St. George.

Harris was born on August 29, 1943, a son of the late Raymond Peter Varner and Mae Heaton Varner. He graduated from St. George High School in 1963 and served in the South Carolina National Guard. He retired after 50 years in the asphalt industry. A longtime member and past president of the Grand American Coon Hunters Association, he was an avid coon hunter and a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Dianne Maxwell Varner and brothers, Roger and Louis Varner; sister Elizabeth Varner; brother-in-law, Willie Adams.

Surviving is his wife, Linda Varner, St. George; daughters, Laura (Marty) Troutman, Tina (Matt) Tyler and Yenifer Malaver (Richard Sutcliffe); grandchildren, Kelly (Matt) Yeager, Kaitlyn (Kyle) Nettles, Harrison Troutman, Stephanie (Teddy) Hebert, Haley (Joseph) White, Matthew (Gracie) Tyler, Joshua Avera; great-grandchildren, Bennett and Owen Yeager, Declan and Blake Nettles, Paisley Hebert, Harper Tyler; brothers, Aldon (Peggy) Varner; sisters, Rae Adams, Emma (Charles) Wiggins, Vickie (Michael) Greene; brother-in-law, Donnie (Linda) Wright; sister-in-law, Debbie (John) Futch.
