Helen “Teal” Hughes Etheredge, 80, of St. George, widow of Thomas S. Etheredge, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at her residence.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Bryant Funeral Home, St. George.

Teal was born on December 26, 1944, in Dorchester, a daughter of the late Cornelius Pharise Hughes and Eunice Catherine Bilton Hughes.  She was a 1962 graduate of St. George High School and was a Deputy Clerk of Court with Dorchester County for over 30 years. She was a member of St. George Methodist Church. She was predeceased by a daughter, Jane Elizabeth Greene; and siblings, Cornelius P. Hughes, Jr. and Catherine Elizabeth Wimberly. 

Surviving is her daughter, June Valerie E. Dangerfield and Shawn Michael Thompson, who she raised; grandchildren, Alexis Reedlynn Greene, Michael Thomas Etheredge, and Kalli Richlynn Dangerfield; three great-grandchildren; sister, Brenda H. Young Heatherly and her husband Ralph; and a brother, Terry Hughes (Terri Blocker).
