Jackie Edward Roberts

Jackie Edward Roberts, 86, of Dorchester, peacefully passed away on December 27, 2021 surrounded by loved ones, at Lowcountry Community Hospice House.

He was born January 2, 1935 to William Wright Roberts and Effie Lemacks Roberts in Walterboro.

Jackie married the love of his life, Evelyn Ruth Pate, May 29, 1956, celebrating 65 years of marriage.

Jackie served in SC National Guard, US Army and USAF.  He served in active-duty US Army 1957-1961 and spent most of that time stationed in Germany.  He joined the USAF Reserve after the US Army and served Active Duty for the Gulf War.  He retired from USAF with 20+ years of service in 1991.  He also retired civil service as a fuel system specialist at the Charleston AFB.

Jackie was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Raymond and Eugene; sisters, Eurel Nettles and Lourie Benton, and a daughter-in-law, Tanya Roberts.  He is survived by his wife, “Ebbie”; his sons, Patrick (Sharon) Roberts, Todd Roberts and Bart (Denise) Roberts; grandchildren, Chris, Tiffany, Lauren (Fred), Caroline (Will), Will, Celeste, Summer (Michael); step-grandchildren, Samantha (PJ), and Colton Burley; great-grands, Chelsea, Connor, Maya, Nicholas, and his brother, Mendel (Uldene) Roberts.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, December 30, 2021, in the Dorchester Cemetery with Reverend Palmer Hudson officiating.  Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM at Bryant Funeral Home, St. George.
