James Edward “Bubba” Smoak, 58, of Summerton, entered eternal rest on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at his residence.

Graveside Funeral Services will be 2 P.M. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Craig Crosby officiating, Burial will follow. Family will receive friends an hour before service in cemetery.

Bubba was born on April 19, 1963, in Summerville, a son of Mary Ellen Mizell Smoak and the late Joseph Edward (Coonie) Smoak. He was a cook, 1981 graduate of Harleyville-Ridgeville High School and member of Calvary Baptist Church.   

Surviving is his mother, Mary Ellen Smoak, Summerton; a sister, Teresa Smoak (Travis) Messex; nephew, Lee Garrett Messex; his aunts, Carolyn Kirkland, Linda Smoak, Lillian (Bill) Stewart and his uncle Joe (Bucky) (Monica) Moorer.

Memorials may be made in his memory to American Heart Association or to a charity of one’s choice.
