Reverend James Douglas Marchant, 79, entered eternal rest on April 7, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his family.

The funeral services will be held at Indian Field Methodist Church, St. George, SC on April 10th, at 2 PM, with Rev. Thomas Sandifer and Rev. Joey McDonald officiating.  Visitation will be held at 12:30 PM, prior to service. Burial will follow with Masonic Rites conferred by Egeria Lodge No. 71 in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ricky Infinger, Paul Weeks, Timmy Peters, Gerald Saulisbury, Kenny Newsome, Bert Judy, Luke Riser, Michael Walters.

Douglas was born in Rosinville, SC on January 7, 1947, a son of the late John Richard Marchant and Angie Vernell (Nellie) Infinger Marchant.  He was a 1965 graduate of Harleyville-Ridgeville High School and was a retired United Methodist Minister of twenty-five years. He was a Past Master Mason of Egeria Lodge No. 71 in Harleyville, SC. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed horseback riding and time with family.

Douglas was preceded in death by his brother John Lewis Marchant, and sisters Edith Infinger, Barbara Jane Baker, Bernice Jacobs and Dorothy Saulisbury.

Surviving is his wife of fifty-seven years, Shirley Jean Riser Marchant, daughters Angie (Ricky) Bair, Frances Marchant and Jeanie King; Grandchildren – Phillip Andrew Myers Jr., Grayson James Myers, Kearsten Danielle (Brent) Hanley, Alexander Boltin Furtick, Nicholas John Furtick, Destiny Claire (Avery) Boudinot, Robbie Phillips Furtick, Maggie Elizabeth Behie; Great Grandchildren – Alfred James, Eleanor Jane and Violet Katherine Hanley, Lydia Sabina Boudinot; Sisters Florelle Weeks and Elvenia Fralix; Sister-in-law Elaine (Jimmy) Walters, Brother-in-laws Jacob (Joy) Riser, Larry (Allison) Riser
