James McKinley Williams “Kenny” Smith, 80, of St. George, husband of Carey Kizer Smith, entered eternal rest on Monday, July 21, 2025, at his residence.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at Indian Field Methodist Church with Rev. Thomas Sandifer officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Taylor Buckley, Preston Buckley, Will Mullen, Nathan Behie, Jimmy Behie and Frank Cantley. The family will receive friends an hour before the service in the church. 

Kenny was born on January 1, 1945, in Summerville, a son of the late W.M. Williams and Ruby Armstrong Williams Smith and later adopted by Robert Asbury Smith.  He graduated from Harleyville-Ridgeville High School in 1963 and worked as an electrical planner and supervisor at Westvaco Pulp and Paper in North Charleston. He loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle locally and across the country. He enjoyed coaching football at Mims Academy, playing travel softball in Ridgeville, and participating in a bowling league. He was predeceased by his stepdaughter, Tracey K. Herndon; grandmother, Mary Williams Davidson and his uncle, George Williams and his father-in-law, William Kizer.

Surviving is his loving wife of 37 years, Carey Kizer Smith; loving father to two wonderful daughters, Penny Smith (Michael) Buckley,  St. George and Mary Patricia “Patty” Smith Mullen; of Niceville, FL; grandchildren, Taylor (Kristen) Buckley, Preston (Billy) Buckley, William Mullen and Jessica Mullen; great-grandchildren, Rylee and Madison Buckley, Sawyer Buckley; sister, Linda S. Pate; half brother and sister, Ronnie (Elaine) Williams, Mary Ruth Williams and Debbie Williams (Ross) Livingston; mother-in-law, Evelyn Kizer and brother-in-law, G.W. Kizer.

The family would like to thank Agape Hospice and his caregivers for their support over the past few months.
