Janie Ruth Mizell Obituary

Janie Ruth Mizell, 93, of Dorchester, widow of Aaron L. Mizell, Sr., entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at her residence.


Graveside Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Limestone Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Mims, Rev. Owen McAllister and Rev. Dan Yagman officiating.  Pallbearers will be Luis Monzon, William McArn, Jr., D. Bruce Craven, Brian Craven, Charles Wiggins, Daniel Mizell and Bill McArn. Please adhere to social distancing and wear a mask.


Ruth was born on March 19, 1927 in Dorchester, a daughter of the late Jacob William and Ellen Janie Myers Mizell.  She was the longest living member of Limestone Baptist Church. She was predeceased by a son, Aaron L. Mizell, Jr.; granddaughter, Wendy Ferguson; brothers, Jacob L. Myers and James D. Myers.


Surviving are her sons, W. Richard (Judy) Mizell, Goose Creek, Jerry T. (Elaine) Mizzell, Charleston, Larry M. (Vicky) Mizell, Dorchester; a daughter, Grace E. Craven, Camden; grandchildren, Joyce Lynn (David) Robinson, Ken Mizell, D. Bruce (Michelle) Craven, Brian L. (Rikki) Craven and Melissa (Luis) Monzon; a sister, Ellen Bernice Wiggins; 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
