Jean Murray Creel

Jean Murray Creel, 86, of St. George, widow of James Allen (Bobby) Creel, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at her residence.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, September 24, 2023, in the St. Matthews Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Murray Cemetery.  The pallbearers will be Lynn Creel, Pinckney Murray, Deral Colson, Ricky Colson, Lyn Westbury and Matt Sandford. Visitation will be Saturday afternoon from 4:00-6:00 PM at her residence, 3056 Wire Road, St. George.

Jean was born on May 17, 1937, in Moncks Corner, a daughter of the late David Walker Murray, Sr. and Henrietta Ethel Shieder Murray.  She was educated in the Berkeley County school and was a former employee for Bett’s Flowers and the Flower Gallery. She served her church, St. Matthews Baptist as custodian for over 60 years.  She was predeceased by a sister, Inez Herring and a brother, David Walker Murray, Jr.

Surviving are two sons, James Marvin (Donna) Creel, Jody Allen (Wendy) Creel, all of St. George; grandchildren, April M. Creel, Kevin J. (Alex) Creel, Scott J. (Ashley) Creel, and Eric A. Creel; great-grandchildren, Easton Creel, Cameron Creel, Cayden Creel and Daniel Creel.

The family expresses sincere thanks to Intrepid Hospice and Mom’s caregivers, Viola Felder and Deidre Carson.
