John R. (J.R.) Crosby, of St. George, entered into eternal rest on June 28, 2024.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00AM July 1, 2024 at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Douglas Marchant officiating. Burial will follow in St. George Cemetery. Pallbearers
will be Darin Crosby, Dale Terry, Jackie Judy, Al Judy, Jamie Herndon and Eddie Herndon. Visitation will be Sunday evening June 30, 2024 from 5:00 - 7:00PM at Bryant Funeral Home,
St. George.
J.R. was born on October 31, 1927, in Grays, SC, a son of the late Mr. Willie and Mrs. Lilly Crosby. He was an Army Veteran, where he served a year in Yokohama, Japan in 1946.
Throughout his career, he was a Planer Mill Operator Supervisor, which included working for Cox Wood Preserving in Orangeburg, SC and Kizer Lumber Company in Bowman, SC. He was
a member of the Pine Level Baptist Church in Grays, SC. J.R. loved his family and his animals, he also loved to hunt and fish. His greatest love was his beloved wife Maggie, where they
shared 67 years of marriage.
He was predeceased by his wife Maggie J. Crosby, son Ronald Crosby and siblings Manuel Crosby, Marie C. Shepard, Eleanor C. Wall, Virgie C. Simmons, Evelyn C. Gramling, Robert
Crosby and Adolph Crosby.
Surviving is his Children, Dwight (Bonnie) Crosby, Sandra (Wayne) Tuten, Robert Hughes, Deborah Poland; Grandchildren, Joey (Brenda) Smith, Chris Smith, Michael Smith, Robert
(Lauren) Hughes, Tracey (Christopher) Harbeson, Stephanie (Timothy) Goetz, Britney Poland; 11 Great-Grandchildren and 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren. He was loved by many nieces,
nephews and cousins.
