Lenora (Nora) Cordray Parker, of Harleyville, widow of John Leroy Parker, Sr., entered into eternal rest on Monday June 3, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, June 7, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Harleyville with Pastor Jamie Cribb and Pastor Haskell Parler officiating. Burial will follow in the Limestone Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brooks Parker, Jonathan Parker, Matthew Parker, Benjamin Parker, Art Cordray and John William Cordray. Visitation with Eastern Star Rites will be Thursday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM at Bryant Funeral Home, St. George.
Nora was one of 15 children and was born on July 27, 1925, in Ravenel, a daughter of the late Joseph Horace Cordray and Lurie Agnes Platt Cordray. She was a graduate of St. Paul’s High School and retired as an accountant and bookkeeper from Dorchester School District #3. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Harleyville, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, church hostess and choir member. Nora was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 128 and served as District #3 President, Order of Eastern Star Harido #161, as Past Worthy Matron and many other capacities. She was a member of the Harleyville Red Hat Hunnies and enjoyed being involved with Relay for Life. She was famous for her homemade bread and pans of cinnamon rolls throughout the county.
She was predeceased by son, Shelton J. Parker; a great-granddaughter, Courtney Lynn Snowden; siblings, Joseph Cordray, Wilhelmina (Gilbert) Baldwin, John William (Lottie) Cordray, Sr., Melvin (Lillie Belle) Cordray, Milton (Winnie) Cordray, Lolace (Etheline) Cordray, Mary Ann Cordray, Arthur (Dorothy) Cordray and Nell (Al) Hilton.
Surviving are two sons, John Leroy (Sandy) Parker, Jr. and Mark Tilden (Kaye) Parker, all of Harleyville; daughter, Tara P. (Paul) Fender, Jacksonville, FL and Karen A. Parker, Harleyville; daughter-in-law, Faye B. Parker, Goose Creek; grandchildren, Christee (Steve) Jiricka, Joye (Jason) Dillehay, Amanda (Mike) Edwards, Jonathan (Nikki) Parker, Brooks (Jessica) Parker, Matthew (Emily) Parker, Benjamin (Emily) Parker; great-grandchildren, Tyler Dillehay, Sara (Josh) Burley, Timothy Dillehay, Nathan Dillehay, Noah Dillehay, Logan Jiricka, Dylan Jiricka, Megan Jiricka, Karis Edwards, Brooklyn Parker, Rylee Day, Hailey Parker, William Parker, Anslee Parker, Allie Parker, Andrew Burnham, Alyssa Burnham; great-great grandchildren, Athena Burley, Juniper Burley, Noah Burley and Aiden Burley. . She was a beloved aunt of many nieces and nephews, and a loving and steadfast friend to those near and far.
The family would like to thank her special caregiver, Lorraine Lary and Intrepid Hospice including Missy Crank, Chaplin Joseph Kamau and Whitney Musgrave.
