Linda Utsey Jackson, 79, passed peacefully at her home, Saturday, October 12, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Linda was born February 2, 1945, in Walterboro, SC, the daughter of the late JD and Doris Utsey. She was a 1963 graduate of St. George High School. Linda had a passion for educating others, serving as an assistant ESL, CNA instructor, and finally retiring as an adult education instructor.  Linda loved the Lord and was a devoted servant of Christ. She was a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher. In recent years, she attended Lighthouse Community Church, serving as a part-time pianist. Her faith, music and kindness touched the hearts of many.

Linda was a devoted wife, loving mother, friendly neighbor, thoughtful aunt and cousin. She meant so much to so many, but none more than her precious grandboys, who affectionately called her Mimi.  Mimi loved watching her boys play ball, attending cookouts, spending time on the Edisto River, and serving as the candy fairy to neighborhood children.  She cherished her time with her grandchildren and some of her most treasured moments were shared with Barry and Lynn Crook. Linda and her niece, Cathy, shared many fun adventures traveling the world and taking weekly trips to TJ Maxx and Belk. On any given day, Linda could be found riding her golf cart around the neighborhood with her beloved dog and sidekick, Stormy.

She was predeceased by her husband, James Theodore “Terry” Jackson; brother, Dan Utsey. Surviving is her son, Teddy (Denise) Jackson of Grover and daughter, Erin (Brady) Crook of St. George; brother, Wayne (Brenda) Utsey of St. George; grandchildren Connor and Cameron Jackson and Jacks and Pres Crook; and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 15th from 6 – 8 PM at Bryant Funeral Home in St. George, SC. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 AM, Wednesday, October 16th at Grover Methodist Church, with the Rev. Rawls Mitchell and Rev. Steve Mims officiating. Burial will follow at Murray Cemetery in Grover, SC.

The family would like to thank her cousins, Patricia Reeves and Sandra (Larry) Strickland, who offered continual love and support. Also, they send a warm thanks to the many friends and family that have supported her for many years and through her extended illness. 

Pallbearers will be Connor Jackson, Cameron Jackson, Ricky Bair, Johnny Robinson, Tyler Crook, Colby Hoff, Tommy Rickborn and Joseph Rickborn.
