Louise Shuler Metts Obituary

Louise Shuler Metts, wife of George “Al” Metts, entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 23, 2024 after a courageous battle with breast cancer.


Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church with Reverend Jay Johnson, Reverend Jakie Walters and Reverend Bobby Etheridge officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be the Senior Adult Men of the church and Honorary Pallbearers will be the Senior Adult Ladies of the church.  Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM at Bryant Funeral Home, St. George.


Louise was born on August 2, 1943, in Orangeburg, a daughter of the late Louis Leroy Sandel and Mildred Shuler Sandel Snell.  She graduated from Bowman High School and Trident Technical College with degrees in Interior Design, Floral and Cosmetology.  Louise was the owner of Country Pleasures Florist for 33 years and a former beautician.  She enjoyed decorating Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, where she was an active member, for Christmas and throughout the year with her floral talents. She was also a Sunday school teacher. She was predeceased by her first husband, Bobby Shuler; a son, Rusty Matthews; and an infant daughter.


Surviving is her husband, Al Metts, Branchville; a son, Kevin (Pam) Shuler, St. George; grandchildren, Kristopher Matthews, Frankie Shuler and Mason Shuler; brothers, Landis Leroy (Reba) Sandel and Anthony Bryant (Kathy)Sandel; sisters, Lois S. Postell (Bill Stephens) and Jean S. Judy.


Memorials may be made Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, Cemetery Fund, 1183 Flatwoods Road, Reevesville, SC 29471.
