Lynette Crook Hartzog, 90, of St. George, widow of Edward Behling Hartzog, Sr., entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Magnolias of Santee.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Jakie Walters and Rev. Nathan Griffin officiating.  Pallbearers will be Earl Hartzog, Sam Hartzog, Jacob Crisp, Trey Wade, Dallas Wade and Lathan Hartzog. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 

The family will receive friends an hour before the service.

Lynette was born on May 31, 1934, in Dorchester County, a daughter of the late Earl and Katie Belle Ackerman Crook. She was a 1952 graduate of St. George High School, a 1959 graduate of the University of South Carolina and received her Master’s of Education from South Carolina State College in 1975.  She was a dedicated school teacher and guidance counselor at St. George High School for over 30 years.  She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she was the pianist and organist.  She was predeceased by an infant son, Stephen Russell Hartzog; siblings, Rev. Joseph E. Crook, Rev. Everette D. Crook, Dr. Lynn Crook and Eleanor Eunice Thomas.

Surviving is her son, Edward (Gilda) Hartzog; a daughter, Karen (Dwight) Neil; grandchildren, Earl (Cadra) Hartzog, Sam (Kim) Hartzog, Rebecca (Trey) Wade, Jack (Kristen) Neil, Grace (Jacob) Crisp; great-grandchildren; Boone and Banks Hartzog; Lathan and Barrett Hartzog; Dallas, Sawyer, Maddox, and Zadie Wade; Hank, Emma, Lyla and Anna Neil; and Katherine Crisp; and her dear friend, Spanky Ammons.
