Martha Elizabeth Murray, 93, widow of Peter Duncan Murray, Jr., of St. George, entered into eternal rest on May 15, 2023, at her residence after a brief illness.

Graveside Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Friday, May 19, 2023, at St. George Cemetery with Rev. Kathy Hudson and Rev. Kathy Bostrom officiating.  The family will receive friends before and following the service.

Martha was born on March 28, 1930, in Grover, a daughter of the late Catherine “Kate” Westbury Murray and Thomas O. Murray. She was a graduate of St. George High School, cosmetology school in Charleston, SC and a business owner in the St. George and Walterboro communities.  She loved spending time with her family, a true Southern lady and a beloved mother and Nana.  Martha was a humble and loving soul.  She was a member of St. George United Methodist and a former member of Grover United Methodist Church.  She was predeceased by siblings, Richard Murray, Herman Murray and Haskell Murray. 

Surviving are her daughters, Van Murray (Mary Ambrose), St. George, Ramona Stein (Henry), Walterboro and Caroline Murray McMillan (Bill McMillan), St. George; grandchildren, Tyler Pinckney (Megan Kinard), Walterboro, Justin Pinckney (Lauren), Greenville and Cassidy Murray, St. George; great-grandchildren, Jackson Pinckney, Jay Pinckney and Luke Pinckney; a brother, J. Oliver Murray, St. George; sister-in-law, Betty Pendarvis Murray, Holly Hill; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
