Martha Hills Serra Risher Obituary

Martha Hills Serra Risher, 65, of Holly Hill, entered into eternal rest on June 3, 2024 at Agape Hospice in Summerville with her loving husband, Virgil Risher by her side.  Our niece, Eliza Ann said, “It was a God thing that our mom (NaNa) gets to celebrate her birthday with her first born.”


Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Kevin Risher, Wesley Risher, Robbie Atkins, Trey Bessent, Chad Hills and Joshua Rogers.  The visitation will be an hour before the service.


Martha was born on August 31, 1958, in Union, SC, a daughter of the late Charles Cross Hills and Statia Walsh Hills.  She was a 1976 graduate of Holly Hill Academy where she was selected as the Homecoming Queen in 1975 and attended Columbia College.  She was a bank teller and a member of Target United Methodist Church.  She was first married to the late Patrick Serra.


Surviving is her husband Virgil Benjamin Risher, Jr.; a son, Dominic (Kate) Serra, Atlanta; daughters, Statia (David) Smith, Jacksonville and Bridgett Serra, Tampa, FL; brothers, David (Christine) Hills and Charles R. (Laurel) Walsh; sister, Miriam (Robert) Bessent; grandchildren, Austin Smith, Cale Smith and Jackson Serra; two stepsons and two stepdaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
