Mary Julia Riser Clayton, 96, of Dorchester, widow of John William Clayton, entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 31, 2025.   

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Zion Methodist Church with Rev.  Ronnie Brewer officiating.  Burial will follow in the  Zion Methodist Church Cemetery. The Pallbearers will be Dennis Rhode, Stephen Leya, Billy Whetsell, Ben Riser, John Riser, Jake Riser, and Roger Breitkreutz (Honorary).

Visitation will be 4:00 – 6:00 PM Saturday afternoon at Bryant Funeral Home, St. George.  

Mary was born July 2, 1928, a daughter of the late Hubert and Julia West Riser of Bowman. 

She was a member of Zion Methodist Church and loved to garden and keep a beautiful yard. Her favorite time of the year was enjoying Indian Field and Cypress Campmeeting with her family and friends.

Surviving are her children; Cathy Byron (Butch), Donny Clayton (Tonya), Tommy Clayton (Jean); grandchildren, Martin Clayton (Laura), Chris Clayton (Courtney), Bridgette Clayton (Michael), Cadra Hartzog (Earl), Nikki Tench (Scott), Brittany Wamer (Thomas), Joseph Byron; great-grandchildren, Garrett, Olivia, Boone, Banks, Courtlynn, Ethan, Emerson, J, Gatsby, Bryant, Elli Reese; a sister, Elsie Folk; and many nieces and nephews.
