Mary Hoffman Westbury, 81, of St. George entered eternal rest on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.  She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Philip Westbury, Sr., whom she dearly loved.

Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM, Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Grover Methodist Church with Pastor Sid Mims officiating.  Burial will follow in the Utsey Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until time of service in the church.

Mary was born March 05, 1944, one of nine children to the late Virgil and Amanda Hoffman of Orangeburg County.  Mary married Philip on March 30, 1968, and made their residence in St. George, where they welcomed two sons, Philip Jr. (Phil) and Mark.

Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.  If you knew her, you knew she loved sports, especially any involving her children and grandchildren.  She would cheer them on like no other and always with positivity.  Mary was a member of Grover Methodist Church and a Retiree of Dorchester School District Four.  She was an avid subscriber to “Birds and Blooms” which she and her sister Gloria would flip through and discuss every page on their times together.  She had a green thumb and enjoyed being outside working in the yard and tending to her flowers.  Over the years she relished in her outings with her sisters, “The Silver Queens”, as they called themselves.  As a member of SGCC, she would thoroughly delight in the Thursday Night Couples Scrambles and especially the potluck meals after the golf.  She was one who would lend a helping hand to anyone that needed or wanted a little help.

Mary is survived by her children: Philip Westbury, Jr., Mark Westbury; her grandchildren: Joshua (Erin) Westbury, Lucas Westbury, Cameron Westbury, Annabeth “AB” Westbury; her great grandchildren: Johnathan Westbury, Jacob Westbury, Abby Elizabeth Westbury; her sisters: Shelby Jean Amaker, Gloria (Marvin) Judy, Joan Almond; brother: Thurmond (Alva Ree) Hoffman and many, many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grover Methodist Church or donations to a Parkinson’s Foundation or Charity of your choice (The Michael J. Fox Foundation, Parkinson’s Foundation, APDA Parkinson’s Charity).
