Mary Ellen Weeks Tedder

 With profound sadness, Mary Ellen (Weeks) Tedder, 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2026, surrounded by love. She was the heart of her family and a friend to many. Known for her gentle spirit, welcoming smile, and servant’s heart, Mary Ellen lived a life filled with love, faith, and generosity.

Mary Ellen was the beloved daughter of Alvah and Richelieu Weeks, and sister to Elizabeth W. Heaton and Howard Weeks, all of whom preceded her in death.

She was a proud mother of five children; Keith Way, Glyn Way and Mark Way who preceded her in death and survived by, Donna Way Grimsley and Angela Way (Shelagh Reilly) . Her greatest joy was her family, especially her role as grandmother to Brittany G. Reeves (Philip Reeves) and Ashley G. Sipes (Cody Sipes), and great-grandmother to Brantley, Paisley, Iller and Ellie Mae.

Mary Ellen was a graduate of Harleyville Ridgeville High School and studied at Trident Technical College. She spent many years working for ITT Conoflow before retiring, but her service never stopped. She continued to care for children in the Dorchester County School System and later worked part-time for Dorchester County Water Works. Her faith guided her life, and she was actively involved with the ARK of SC and Harleyville Christian Church. She spent over 25 years ministering as a Sunday school teacher.

Mary Ellen loved bringing people together. Her home was often filled with laughter, conversation, and the aroma of freshly baked treats. Sundays were sacred-not just for worship, but for gathering around the table with family and friends. She also enjoyed reading romance stories, dancing when the music moved her, and finding peace in her garden.

Though she will be greatly missed, her love and legacy live on in all who knew her. As we say goodbye, we find comfort knowing she is now at peace, welcomed into heaven with angel wings.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, March 30, 2026, at Harleyville Christian Church with Brother Marion Kosier officiating.  Burial will follow in the Harleyville Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be John Coppola, Jason Pooser, Phillip Reeves, Cody Sipes, Brad Weeks, Kyle Weeks and Brantley Reeves.  The family will receive friends an hour before the service in the church.
