TSgt Melvin Cecil Edmonds, USAF Ret, 85, of St. George, widower of Dorma C. Edmonds, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
Funeral Services with Military Honors will be held 11:00 AM Monday, March 3, 2025 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Nathan Griffith and Rev. Steve Mims officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends a half hour before the service.
Melvin was born on March 4, 1939, in Spartanburg, a son of the late Harvey Cecil Edmonds and Carolyn Harrison Edmonds. He was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and retired from the US Air Force as a Jet Engine Mechanic. He later retired from GE Ladson. Melvin was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and a life member of the American Legion Post 105.
Surviving two sons, Howard C. "Skip" Edmonds, Charleston and Martin "Marty" Edmonds; Daughter, Melody ( Buck) Stanley, all of St. George; three grandchildren; Sierra Edmonds, Gerald Stanley, Amy Hughes; seven great-grandchildren, Lelia Cottrell, Natalie Horne, Amber (Tony) Kwakenat, Thomas Stanley, III, Mia Stanley, Michael Thomas Hughes, Matthew Hughes, a great-great-grandson, Jackson Lee Kwakenat and Levi Thomas Kwakenat, due in June; sister, Ann Parris (Spartanburg).
