Preston Herbert “Jimmy” Simons, Jr., 82, of St. George, husband of Sherill Herndon Simons, entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 21, 2025, at his residence.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Monday, March 24, 2025, at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dawjr Wood officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. George Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jamie Barrette, Danny Simons, Riker Simons, Hunter Holt, Nick Pierce and Don Crowe.  The visitation will be an hour before the service.

Jimmy was born on December 13, 1942, in Ruffin, SC, to Preston Herbert Simons, Sr. and Annie Ruth Fender Simons. He started as a ship fitter, then a lofter and retired manager of the computer rooms for the structural group at Charleston Naval Shipyard. He and his wife owned Simons Welding and Fabrication in St. George. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church where he attended the Wilson Patrick Sunday School Class. His hobbies included bass fishing and riding motorcycles.

Surviving are his wife, Sherrill Diane H. Simons, St. George; a son, Preston H. “Sonny” (Teresa) Simons, Landrum; daughter, Jennifer Diane (Jamie Barrette) Simons, North Charleston; grandson, Riker Preston Simons; his nephew, Danny Simons; and a sister,  Eva Ruth “Glory” Baltzegar.
