Roger Smith, 78, widower of Francine Mizell Smith, of St. George entered into eternal rest on Saturday,
August 30, 2025 at his residence.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Limestone Baptist Church with Reverends Dan Yagman and Jim Boodle officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Thomas Mizell, Trey Harrell, Matt Miller, Christopher Mizell, Mark Hammond and Cory Jeffers.
The family will receive friends an hour before the service.
Roger was born on December 10, 1946, in Summerville, a son of the late Furman E. Smith and Ruth Corneluis Smith. He served and retired after 26 years with the Army National Guard. He was a Produce Manager with Big Star and Food Lion. He was an active member of Limestone Baptist Church, and volunteer fireman with the Grover Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and cutting the grass.
He was predeceased by a sister, Connie Carson.
Surviving are two children, Edward G. (Faye) Smith, Angie (Kent) Mizell; grandchildren, Brittany (Trey) Harrell, Heather (Cory) Jeffers, Leslie (Mark) Hammond, Nicole Garvin; great grandchildren, Jamie Smith, Alexis, Jackson, Maeve and August Jeffers; a sister, Lois (Chuck) Whitaker, Harleyville; and a niece and nephew, Kitty and Thomas Mizell.
