Theresa ‘Tresi’ Mae Fickling Sutcliffe, 85 of St. George, widow of George Richard ‘Dicki’ Sutcliffe, passed away at home on Thursday, June 5, 2025.
Visitation will be held at St. George Cemetery on Saturday, June 7th at 11 AM. Graveside funeral immediately following at 12 PM, officiated by Pastor Joseph A. McDonald.
Born on April 15, 1940, she was the eldest child of James Verdier Fickling and Miriam Elaine McKissick Fickling. She was predeceased by an infant brother.
Theresa shared a 60 year marriage with her husband Dicki. Together they built a loving family and successful business. For 67 years, she was the devoted co-owner and owner of Sutcliffe’s Furniture. Within the store, she created the Knit-n-Nook, where she sold yarn and shared her passion for needlework. She found great joy and formed many friendships through her knitting, crocheting, painting, quilting and flower arranging.
Surviving are a son, George Richard Sutcliffe II, daughter, Dicksi (Tony) Folk of St. George and daughter, Kara (Quentin) Mellett, of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, McCann (Morgan) Mellett and Maeryn Mellett, Daniel (Angel) Folk, Rachel (Alex) McCracken, great-grandchildren, Landon and Decklan Folk and Wiley McCracken. She is also survived by her sister, Roxanne (George) Holsapple, of Orlando, FL. and several nieces and nephews.
