Colonel Thomas Albert Ackerman, US Army Retired, 88, entered eternal rest on October 19, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2024, in the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joey Burnett officiating. Burial with Military honors will follow in The St. George Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour before service at funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Troy Brownlee, Todd Ackerman, Brad Stewart, Dylan Stewart, Chris Westbury, Steve Westbury.
Tommy was born October 14, 1936, in St. George, a son of the late George William and Bertha Sweatman Ackerman. He was a Baptist and1954 graduate of St. George High School and two master’s degrees from Saint Leo College and Central Michigan University. He served in SC National Guard, US Army Reserve, and retired from active duty in US Army. He was predeceased by his son, Scott Thomas Ackerman and his sister, Brenda Ackerman Brownlee.
Surviving his wife, Mary Steward Ackerman, brother, Charles (Deloris) Ackerman; sister, Sandra A. (Kenneth “Doc”) Westbury, brother-in-law, Gene Brownlee and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of one’s choice.
