Thomas (Tom) Edward Atkins, 77, of Saint George, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on October 29, 2025. He was born on April 27, 1948, and now joins his beloved wife, Elon Ann Atkins, in eternal rest.

He is survived by his daughters, Linda Spaulding and Melissa Atkins; his cherished grandchildren, William Spaulding, Kyle Spaulding, Kathrine Spaulding, Elizabeth Wadsworth, and Evan Wadsworth. His sisters and brother LeAnn Atkins, Dennis Atkins, and Trudy Hartley, He was deeply devoted to his family, and his love and wisdom will forever remain in their hearts.

A man of strong faith, Tom served as a deacon and member of the praise team at Memorial Baptist Church, where his kindness and joy in serving others were evident to all who knew him.

In his early life he traveled with a music group playing all over the country. He worked in the hospitality industry for many years. He loved playing his guitar and singing for people.

He dedicated his career to service and leadership, having been a police officer in Fort Mill, SC, police Chief for Summerville, SC, and  the Chief of Police for Saint George in the early 1990s. After his career in law enforcement he was a paralegal for James Bell and Grover Seaton. Later, he continued his professional journey in information technology with Giant Cement and Big Red Industries. A proud graduate of Charleston Southern University, he earned his degree in Criminal Justice and lived a life rooted in integrity, compassion, and dedication.

Known for his laughter, faith, and generosity, Tom touched countless lives and was truly loved by all who met him.

He will be missed deeply by all who loved him and knew him.

A celebration of his life will not be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Memorial Baptist Church in his honor.
